Personal Stress Management

  Personal Stress Management

Personal stress management deals with the fact that each of us is unique.

However in this uniqueness there is a pattern, seemingly random behaviors of individuals can be interpreted by looking at how individual perceive the world around them and then interpret and make judgments of these perceptions. This can be interpreted using the Myers Briggs framework. Below is information of a number of varying personality types. Figure out what you are and read the detail on yourself.

People with similar perceptions and judgment should have similar traits with regards to personal stress management.

There are sixteen different Myers Briggs personality types all designated by four letters.
These are:

  • E (extroversion) or I (introversion)
  • S (sensing) or N (intuition)
  • T (thinking) or F (feeling)
  • J (judging) or P (perceiving)

How do you know what personal stress management profile you fall under? To know accurately you will need to take the Myers Briggs MBTI test, but if you want to guess you can look at the questions below and try and figure it out you personal stress management profile for yourself.

  • What energizes you more, spending time with people (E) or do you recharge your batteries by spending time alone (I)?

  • If you are understanding something, do you focus on only the facts (S) or do you add meaning and interpretation to it before you have a complete idea of the facts (N)?

  • When making a decision about something do you concentrate on the situation and do whats best despite who it may affect (T) or do you take into account the people and make a decision for their benefit at the expense of the situation.(F)

  • Are you the kind of person who plans ahead and is organised (J) or do you prefer spontaneity and a bit of freedom (P)?

If you are like this but rather than being orderly tend to just try and enjoy life as it happens you could be an ISFP.

Just remember in personal stress management there is no perfect model for any of us, these are just characteristics we tend to more often. We are all capable of being both Extrovert and an Introvert for example; we just spend more time being one of them rather than the other.

So if you love spending time in your own company, are quite thorough and accurate, considerate and concerned with how everyone else is and very neat and orderly you could quite possible be an ISFJ.

Also remember, all the Myers Briggs profiles are equal, there is no better profile. Each of them has its own strengths and weaknesses.

With these in mind, it easier to understand how people react to stress if we are aware of their profiles. For a more in depth understanding of how personal stress management profile types differ under stress click the relevant profile below:
