Stress Techniques for Kids
Stress Techniques for Kids are important for keeping your kids happy. Just because you have a job does not mean that you are the only one feeling stressed. When parents are stressed, it can show, and children are especially good at picking up on subtle things. Your stress can become their stress. Likewise, school homework, bullies or pressure from friends can lead to stress in a child. There are many stress techniques for kids to help them cope.
Do everything you can to create a stable, loving environment. If a child comes home to a brooding father or a complaining mother, even if he or she had a wonderful day, this can become a cloud over them. Sometimes they may not feel like the events in their life are as important as an adult’s. Try to restrict your stress reactions to other adults and learn how to manage your stress. This way the child can come home to parents excited and eager to hear about the day he or she had, and this positive interaction can lead to good self-esteem, feeling supported, and feeling a strong sense of family.
Be ready to talk to your child when he or she seems to be dealing with stress. Social support is important , and let them know that feeling frustrated, lonely, angry, and so forth is all right as long as they understand these feelings. Try to give the child ways of looking at the situation in a more positive light and help him or her come up with ways to deal with the stressor in order to reduce or eliminate it. You can always use things like art and books to help your child express or understand how he or she feels.
Always be there for your child. Simply knowing that their parents are behind them can make children feel less stressed than they did a few seconds earlier.
