Stress Reduction Techniques
Use Stress Reduction Techniques to lower the amount of stress you have. You cannot make everything in your life stress-free. Life simply does not work like that. You would find yourself quite disappointed with the results if you tried. Instead of constantly telling yourself to relax when a stressful event arises (because you are not likely to follow your own advice), you should take a step back and find ways to help reduce stress before it starts, this way when stress does rear its ugly head, you have plans set in place to help keep it low and have less of an impact on you.
Have fun; as they say, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” If there is no enjoyment in your life, such as fun activities or things that just make you happy, you are more likely to stress because you have nothing else to focus on and less ways to relieve it when it comes around. You can start small, just go outside and look at the simple things in life. The sky. Clouds. Grass. Scenery. Even if it is raining, there is no reason you should not be able to appreciate the wonder of so much water falling from the sky. Look at your world in amazement and you may find it a different place than before.
You can try to add something beautiful to your life on a frequent basis. Buy a nice painting you see and put it somewhere you will notice it often. Purchase fresh flowers or even start growing some of your own. You can get satisfaction and pride by helping something to grow with your own two hands.
Deep breathing is a great stress reduction technique. Don’t forget to take deep breaths even when you are not stressed. Take breaks after meals and during the day to relax any tension in your muscles and breathe deeply, focusing on your breathing and for a moment, letting go of something that might be bothering you.
