Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction
Mindfulness based stress reduction has also become known as MBSR and has grown in awareness in many states. Several places now offer MBSR courses that are meant to teach you methods of managing your stress on your own and in a relaxed, meditative way.
Most classes are eight weeks that helps you to identify your stress causing thought patterns in order to stop, take a step back and relax so those thoughts can no longer control your brain. When people worry, they usually go over and over the same problem without realizing a solution or even attempting to come up with a solution. The MBSR practice helps you to become more aware of your thoughts by the use of meditation, become more aware of what your body is feeling and how to relax it, gives you time to do a little bit of stretching and other light body work that not only helps you to further relax muscles, but get a little healthier and feel more energetic in the process.
By utilizing mindfulness based stress reduction, you can learn to take responsibility of your well-being instead of constantly worrying without end. When you are more aware, you can more quickly take action when you realize you feel stressed and take steps to reduce your stress by breathing slowly, calming your mind and body, and make sure you can avoid tensions before they start (or if they have, to relax them). When you are able to look at your problems in a more logical manner, they can be easier to solve or easier to accept if there is no immediate solution. Relaxation and being able to look at the positives instead of negatives is key to maintaining a stress-free or at least stress-reduced lifestyle.
