ISFJ Under Stress

An ISFJ or “Introverted Sensing Feeling Judging” personality type is usually the sort of person who enjoys living in a kind, concrete world. They like order as long as it allows for comfort, and are kind as well as stable around others and within the workforce.

The problem with the kindness that they present is that they can be taken for granted by others or possibly even taken advantage of. When realizing this, an they can become resentful and angry and may begin to become insecure if the stress continues. They can become concerned they have not adequately protected themselves and thus increase such feelings to try and stave off the uncomfortable mood they feel.

When stress begins to feel overwhelming, they can become more withdrawn, dwelling on all aspects of life that might go wrong and convincing themselves that they cannot do anything to remedy either their own situation or an external situation that is affecting them. They can become anxiety-ridden and pessimistic. They may try to alleviate stress by caring for others, but if they have physical symptoms that deny them such attempts, they can become more incapacitated against their stress with no outlet to help them relax.

All personality types will attempt to remedy stressful situations before symptoms grow worse, and may try to deal with the stressor for as long as possible before completely shutting down. An ISFJ may be able to last longer than others because they do not outright reject people or seek solitude from the world. As long as there are people around them they can talk to, they have a good chance of being able to deal with the stress and finding resolutions for it.
