INFJ Under Stress
An INFJ under stress will perform differently when faced with a time of stress. Some people have the ability to thrive under pressure whereas others might fall to pieces. Varying personality types as divided by the Myers-Briggs test can give you some insight into how you may function under stress. If you find that you tend to be protective, caring, and quiet, you may be an INFJ, which stands for Introverted iNtuitive Feeling Judging. Being in tune and very interested in the feelings of others is important, and can become very intuitive about someone’s mood or thoughts.
However, thriving on feelings can mean an INFJ’s feelings can easily become hurt. Conflict is something an INFJ will try to avoid at any cost, because they do not like to see anyone else’s feelings hurt just as much as their own. Because an INFJ can be secretive and hold back on certain things, this may mean that when a stressor arises either due to a conflict or other negative event, he or she may internalize the conflict, which will make the stress worse. Excessive stress can lead to health problems, as well as agitation and anger, which can manifest itself toward others. This may also lead to more conflict and hurt feelings, thus increasing the amount of stress an INFJ is already experiencing.
Due to the fact that INFJs are personally attached to others, it can be difficult to find themselves cut off from those who may have been distanced either through the repressed feelings of the INFJ or through the anger or irritation presented by the INFJ. This can immobilize the INFJ, making them think staying on their own would be best in order to find harmony. However, it would be better for the INFJ under stress to discuss his or her problems or to simply remain social.
