ESTP Under Stress
ESTPs like to go, go, socialize, and seek excitement. Extraverted Sensing Thinking Perceiving people can occasionally lose sight of any long-term consequences that may crop up. Because of this lack of foresight, they may sometimes find that they are on the opposite side of things when faced with friends, family, or employers. Though they may be able to perceive someone’s attitude or motivation, they may still be in a sticky situation when a plan fails to follow through due to their inability to see further down the road.
This sort of fallout may result in stress. When faced with such stress, they can become defiant and highly defensive. This can be a bit startling for someone receiving their hostility. When they are faced with too many rules or other restrictions they can begin rebelling. Routine chores also make them restless and unhappy.
When too many constraints surround an ESTP, their stress will continue to grow and may start shutting them down. They will react by becoming anti-social and potentially rude to others out of their irritation and desire to feel free and without stress again. If they can find ways of causing a small bit of disorder by breaking rules, they can feel better as well as get revenge upon those who put the restrains on them in the first place. They can be somewhat similar to ISTPs in their desire to feel uninhibited by too many rules and in their reactions when stress is upon them.
They should seek out jobs and lifestyles that keep them out of such situations that may include too many restrictions or boredom, such as a regular desk job. They are best in action-oriented jobs that allow them to be flexible and energetic, such as a sales representative or paramedic.
