ESTJ Under Stress

ESTJs or “Extraverted Sensing Thinking Judging” personality types like facts, traditions, and laws. Having order with a clear vision of what they want can occasionally make them aggressive even if they are already self-confident. They lack more “feeling” than others in their personality type, which can become a detrimental component during times of stress.

When stressful events begin to appear in their lives, they may take them in stride, as they are detail-oriented and take commitments seriously. Pressure may be a normal factor in the thier life, but if stress builds up and becomes too much, they can begin to feel isolated from other people. This can happen through their attempts to control any event that appears to be slipping out of their hands. Feelings of anger and frustration can begin to manifest and these can be redirected at those around them, especially if they consider someone to be a hindrance instead of a help in times of stress. Others may feel in an opposite manner and think they are not attentive to their thoughts and jumping to conclusions which can further the rift between friends, family, or co-workers.

If there is no stress relief, they can eventually succumb to physical and later more emotional problems. Fatigue and illness can set in, leaving the them feeling worse than before and worries about their inadequacies and inability to function as normal. Varying personalities can clash with the ESTJ (as they may do with each other in any stressful situation) and when no help is given due to misunderstandings about their actions under stress, he or she may follow down the path of many stressed people; anger, depression, and physical problems. It is important for others to realize that when an they are stressed, what they might do may not necessarily reflect what they need.
